Hitachi has launched a new range of 3.5 inch hard drives, a new Deskstar T7K500 drive, a Deskstar 7K160, and a CinemaStar drive for set-top boxes on Tuesday but interestingly all these newly launched drives do not match the capacity of Seagate’s 750-GB drive.
So far no drive maker in the industry has come up with the matching drive for Seagate’s 750GB drive.
The new Deskstar 500 and CinemaStar hard drives use 160GB+ per platter. The Deskstar comes in 500,400,320,250 GB capacity with 8.5ms average seek time and 4.17 ms average latency. The drives are available in both PATA and SATA interfaces with 8 to 16 MB buffers.
The CinemaStar drives, on the other hand, emphasize low acoustic noise. Like the Deskstar T7K500, the CinemaStar 7K500 ships in 500, 400, 320, and 250 Gbyte capacities.

Can you plz tell me about the cost of these drives..
they seem great but has the company sacrificed the RPM of the disk in an attempt to increase the storage area?
