Since the whole world is going green, here is a device that gives a push to such thinking. Simple Tech, a subdivision of Hitachi, has launched a series of USB drives named “[re]Drive” that dissipate heat through bamboo and aluminum as heat sinks, totally eliminating the need for a fan to cool the drives. These HD Drives are enclosed in a housing composed of recyclable aluminum and bamboo.

Apparently, USB drives get hot after a period of usage, therefore they require a fan to dissipate the heat. But the fans can get too noisy, adding to ever increasing noise pollution. Whereas [re]Drive not only saves you from being a culprit adding to noise pollution but also saves power and makes the world greener. Its technology and packaging are renewable also. The 500GB version is currently on sale, on Amazon for $500.
