Hitachi Maxell rolls out flimsy DVDs with 940GB of storage

You might feel nervous while handling these flimsy 0.092 mm DVDs with a surprising 4.7GB of storage capacity, thrashed out by Hitachi Maxell. But, don't worry; these are just a part of the new DVD technology that blends around 100 of these skinny discs to form a 6.5 cm thick single cartridge.

The combined capacity of the 'Stacked Volumetric Optical Disc, or SVOD' with a capacity of 9.4GB give way to a SVOD cartridge which has a whopping 940GB of final storage capacity. The SVOD cartridge will further be enhanced to hit 5 terabytes, making it a perfect storing device, both for random access and durable storage.
