The New Year brings in the first breakthrough technology in the field of storage solutions. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES, 2008) witnessed Hitachi launch TB Mobile hard drives with their 1 TB capacicty HDDs.

Supposedly the world’s highest capacity 2.5-inch mobile hard drive, this becomes a trendsetter in field of capacity in hard drives. Calling for innovation at its best, Travelstar 5K500 HDD featuring 500GB capacity provides you with the ultimate storage solution. It uses the 4th generation perpendicular magnetic recording technology, promising both space and security. It also promises an enhanced system performance.

Though little bigger than most HDDs this may not fit into many laptops, yet it promises you never to face storage space issues. These HDDs are best suited for slim desktops. The normal one as well as the enhanced-availability version provide you with two storage options, i.e., 400GB or 500GB. The Bulk Data Encryption feature ensures data security unlike the software-based encryption or a system level password, where in you required putting a password for protection. Hitachi has also taken care of power management issues, as the new HDDs are power efficient. The hard drive features a 1.9 watt read/write power, meaning a longer battery life.
