bIn order to be in pace with today’s software, you really need to have a fast drive. Hitachi has taken wraps off its new 200GB Travelstar 7K200 hard drive, which they claim to be the world’s fastest, highest capacity notebook hard disk with optional hardware encryption.
Boasting double the capacity and a 22 per cent performance improvement from previous drives, the new 2.5-inch Travelstar 7K200 will be soon available on Dell and Alienware systems. The optional hard-drive level “Bulk Data Encryption” technology ensures safety against data loss and piracy.
The Travelstar 7K200 is being touted to have 18 and 33 per cent faster application performance than cutthroat 7200 RPM and 5400 RPM 2.5-inch hard drives. The drives will come in sizes ranging from 80GB up to 200GB. The Travelstar 7K200 will be made available summer at a suggested retail price of $249.
