We all knew that this was bound to happen sometime and we were eagerly waiting for this news. Hitachi has finally succeeded in developing the 1TB drive that they had already promised us.

The new Deskstar 7K1000 drive boasts an enormous 1TB storage capacity and it has been designed specially for the desktop PCs.
The secret behind the drives enormous capacity is the integration of Perpendicular Recording technology. The drives will be available in two main flavors that are SATA II and PATA 133.
These drives will feature:
32MB Buffer
Silent Operation
7200 rpm Speed
These drives will be available in the first quarter of this year. Hitachi has also confirmed the launch of other models of the drive that includes CinemaStar 7K1000 and a DVR-Centric drive that are due in the second quarter of this year.
This device will surely satisfy all our storage needs but you will also have to protect these drives from viruses as you will have to spend a couple of days to format them I guess...!
