OLEDs or organic light emitting diodes are constantly replacing florescent lighting in electronics and general lightings, and with this latest tweak in the OLEDs by German researchers from Dresden’s Technical University, the OLEDs are bound to gain firmer ground. OLEDs developed by Sebastian Reineke and his university colleagues have the potential to produce the same amount of light as the incandescent light bulbs, yet backed with the energy saving potential the OLEDs are synonyms with.
The Researchers have tweaked the internal structure of a white-light OLED to an extent that it reduces the internal energy loss and boosts the photon output, and by doing so they have a new OLED structure which yields 90 lumens per watt.
As mentioned, the new development is better that the incandescent bulbs, and comprehensively better than their previous counterparts, that because of their quality of light emitted have failed to replace their white-light predecessors on a major scale.
