Augmented reality is making to the fore faster than we’d expect, and military is what’s gaining the most from the tech, perhaps because the gaming industry hasn’t been enroute so passionately yet. To make sure military has the best from the future of technology, Tanagram Partners is developing military-grade Augmented Reality gear based on lightweight sensors and displays to provide soldiers with all sorts of requisite information during combat.

Last week, Tanagram Partners’ CEO Joseph Juhnke displayed the patent-pending technology at the Augmented Reality Event in California, where the attendees saw helmet-mounted innovative information system which includes ‘a computer, a 360-degree camera, UV and infrared sensors, stereoscopic cameras and OLED translucent display goggles.’ The helmet is made to connect with the military server which relays 3D information onto the wearer's goggles in real time. This warns and let soldiers communicate with each other, showing dangerous areas or people, marking them out in red. The DARPA funded company plans on releasing a working prototype that runs on an iPhone by the first quarter 2011.
