Heart Lift is an exclusive telemonitoring system devised for people with heart problems who aspire to go for mountaineering, ice climbing, skiing or other adventurous sports. The magnificent work from the Italian designer Laura Bordin is meant for the overall security of heart patients, who go for physical practices in mountains or other coarse locations. Heart Lift will serve its users all along their hiking thanks to its capability to check the health condition and automatically update the details with health experts and emergency services, if required.

The telemonitoring system comprises several components. A kit with Bluetooth-enabled electrocardiograph and a pair of gloves are the two devices that users have to wear during their audacious expeditions. Besides these physical components, there is a website to show status of the users and a smartphone application to collect data from the input devices like, electrocardiograph and gloves via Bluetooth, temperature sensors and GPS.
The website connected with the Heart Lift telemonitoring system will display all details, such as temperature, altitude and even the heart rate of its users. The mobile application collects data at the user’s end and updates them on the website thanks to Bluetooth and GPS. There is a Heart Lift assistance center to process the information collected from the wearers of the advanced technology.
Beyond that, users can themselves get updates on their health conditions and mountaineering status via a number of LEDs on the gloves. There are five LEDs on the gloves, which will shine in various colors like green, orange and red to indicate danger. Every LED has separate functions that are monitored by the entire system. Where one LED represents altitude status, the second indicates temperature status and the third and fourth count heart rates respectively. The final one responds only during critical events, such as heart strokes.
Three groups of people are involved in the functioning of Heart Lift telemonitoring system besides its users. The first group comprises followers that may be friends, relatives or colleagues, who accompany the users in mountaineering. The second group is the Heart Lift assistance center’s professional staff that gets the updates of users. And the final one is the emergency service that might rush into the location of the users in case of an emergency. Staff of the emergency service depends on GPS to locate the users.
