We just love two brands teaming up for something special for consumers to have. And when brands are of Ferrari and Hassleblad’s stature, then the combo becomes all the more lethal. This was proven at the Photonika, where Hasselbald and Ferrari showed the H4D Ferrari – limited edition camera alongside Hassleblad’s new 200MP medium format camera. Only 499 units of the crazily unique H4D Ferrari will be made, which are expected to be available sometime next year. We don’t have much info on the camera (it’s slated to be made public in October) but we learn that it is finished in Ferrari's unique color "rosso fuoco", and bears the legendary Racing Shield and comes with an 80mm lens.
The newly released 200-megapixel medium format camera on the other hands is based upon a 50MP sensor mounted on to Hassleblad’s symmetrical multi-shot frame which positions the sensor with sub-micron accuracy with piezoelectric actuators. By positioning on a sequence of quadrants and capturing 6 shots and combining color information from the extension of Bayer-pattern the set up is able to create 200MP image which supersedes a single-shot image in color etc. Because each shot here takes about 30 seconds to capture, I’m not sure how many would appreciate this, but the multishot is a great enhancement for still photographers because it easily quadruples the resolution of a H4D-50MS camera.
