HARV -- Human telepresence system for robot-assisted military combat
Fight your battle without actually setting your feet on the battlefield! Yes, that's what 'HARV' is all about. HARV (Head-Aimed Remote Viewer) is the latest, and undoubtedly the most evolved, Human Telepresence system aimed at paving the right track for robot-assisted military combat. Created by Chatten Associates, the HARV system relies on a gimbal mounted remote video system fitted on the robot and arms the robot operator with gyro equipped goggles. The operator can monitor the movements of the battlefield and keep a tab on the happenings through the robot's eyes. The system boasts of a 36:1 optical zoom, night vision, laser target designators and real-time stereo audio. It can improve the mission performance by 300 to 400 per cent. The HARV reminds me of the amazing world of Dr Strange where mental presence usually dominates the physical plane. Now, that's what I call delegation of duty.
