Haptic tactile feedback is the future for conventional remote controls. Don’t believe me, get a load of this. Universal Remote Control (URC) has built the first remote, MX-5000, with tactile feedback. User can feel the press of a button, despite the fact that this remote control has a touchscreen.
As of now, the MX-5000 employs a single tactile sensation, but URC has experimented with various sensations including the sliding volume controls.
The list of MX-5000 features includes:
* 2.7-inch LCD color touchscreen
* Wi-Fi (B and G) for metadata, control, integration
* Narrowband RF and IR for control
* Via URC base station, integrates with IR and RS-232 components
* Includes rechargeable battery and charging base
The price of this super-cool device is not out yet, but when available, it would be around $1,500.
