Researchers in the Department of Information Physics and Computing at the University of Tokyo have developed a wearable haptic radar system designed to provide augmented spatial awareness. It works as the giant set of virtual whiskers and antennas, which provides a tactile sensation when an object comes within range and the closer the object, the more intense the vibration gets.

This technology can be a boon for the blind and for the people who work in hazardous environment.
