Chinese consumer technology maker Haier is to demo the world’s first Brian-Computer Interface Technology (BCI)-based Smart TV at the IFA Consumer Electronics Conference in Berlin. Haier has manufactured the TV in partnership with NeuroSky ThinkGear, a Silicon Valley-based leader in BCI technology.

The first BCI Smart TV in the world will be on display at the booth of Haier in the famous electronics show, the CES of Europe. The company hopes that its BCI TV will steal the attraction of spectators at IFA, to be held from September 2 to 7 in Germany. The innovative TV set will land in stores in October 2011 with a not-yet-announced price tag.
Brain-Computer Interface Technology or Brain–Machine Interface (BMI) is a fresh concept in technology. It will realize a mechanics in which users can communicate with electronic devices using their brains via a headset. In other words, BCI is a straight communication pathway between the brain and devices. Introduction of the technology on TV means you will be able to control the device with your brain.
NeuroSky’s MindReader headset is the device that realizes the BCI technology on the TV from Haier. Thanks to NeuroSky’s innovations in brainwave technology, you can communicate directly with a television set. The headset will recognize your mental state and will pass the directions to the TV, which will thus respond to your cognitive interactions. This is the way the BCI technology is to make the revolution in the technology world in coming years.
Along with the BCI, the Haier TV comes with the company’s Home Cloud Solution. It provides an exhilarating ‘Cloud Family’ experience to the customers. The feature will boost the arrival of cloud services on TVs. The Haier TV with the BCI technology may be the star of the IFA 2011 conference. Spectators might fall attracted to it at the company’s booth, hall 3.2/stand 134 in the show.
If you are a visitor at IFA, don’t forget to drop by the Haier’s booth to have glimpse of the TV. You may certainly get a chance to experience how the system works. Get ready to see what Haier and NeuroSky are to bring into reality in the Brian-Computer Interface technology for the upcoming generations.
