Guitar created from AK-47 shoots musical notes to enchant audience

This could be the ultimate message for peace. A weapon of war, which is used to kill people, will now be used to entertain and spread the message of universal love and brotherhood around the world. Cesar Lopez, a sculptor of Colombian nationality, has turned an unused AK-47 into a guitar.

Lopez is well known for his skills of turning old guns into guitars. He calls them escopetarras, which when translated means rifle guitars. He does not just build these guitars; he entertains people as well with his live street performances.

Lopez does not sell his creations nor does he take any money for his performances. His idea behind this is to spread the message of universal peace through music. Cesar’s ideas and passion for music seem quite true and heartfelt. Coming from a country that has seen tremendous internal problems for over a decade now, Cesar's work will influence some people to give up the gun.

This idea of building a guitar out of an old AK-47 came to Cesar through a rather violent incident. Back in 2003, while playing in front of the Bogota Country Club, Cesar witnessed a car bomb explosion. In the ensuing chaos, he noticed the way the army guards carry their guns is quite similar to the way a guitar is held by musicians, and the escopetarras were born.

I just wonder if he would be able to perform in other countries with these instruments of his. He would surely find it difficult to make it through customs. May be he can serenade the customs agents by playing some music and get his pass.
