Grimshaw Aerogenerator: A nature inspired design

When we think of wind power, the very first image in our minds run is a giant, three-bladed propeller spinning wind tower. The wind turbine symbolizes the hope of a green, clean future. The wind turbine that I am discussing here is inspired from body structure of beetle or you can say a fly. Grimshaw has introduced Aerogenerator, a huge wind turbine that spins on its vertical axes rather than horizontal axes. It seems like a TV antennae.

The gigantic turbine revolves three times per minute, generating around 9MW of electricity. The design exebit the potential to extract the power of the waves and tides by sub-surface generators. You will be able to see the generators in action in upcoming years.
