Green Thumb robot is a hardworking farmer
Agriculture isn’t a small business by any figment of imagination be it in any part of the world, and therefore technological upgrades related to this field are of prime importance to the society. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has always been up to the task of developing robots that assist human chores and this time the automaton (Green Thumb)is set to assist farmers to plant, tend and even harvest. Currently planting cherry tomatoes, this small robot based on a floor cleaner comes with an arm and an on-board computer.
Apparently, the challenge is to make the robot comprehend a tomato red color of all reds and then make him pick up a tomato without damaging it. It costs $2,500, and further developments could lower the price even more and it all depends on the nature of your farm. Once these robots take over, our only job would be to add nutrients and water until artificial intelligence hits its prime.
