GPS enabled Tractor that thinks smartly

Posted By: Atul Roach | Apr 28 2008

It isn’t just those heavily loaded cars giving you all the stats you need but even the heavy-duty tractors which were until very recently seen as bull-headed machines throwing stats and functioning dexterously like never before. Especially the ones from John Deere, with his latest creation pictured above, make us feel that they soon need a re-dubbing with Smart as the prefix, something that happened to the smarter cell phones. Unlike the conventional or the retro ones which threw fertilizers and pesticides in wild fury, though in a surprisingly quantified manner, this GPS enabled tractor does much more than throwing and mulching. Its sensors collect data regarding the health status of the crop and then help the farmer in determining as to how much fertilizer each square foot of land requires for nourishment. Consequently the farmer ends up saving $10 to $20 for every acre nourished, plus that smart thinking cuts down on chemical pollution too, making our beloved environmentalists happy.
