Google’s Nexus One superphone is official and geared to kill

[CES 2010 preview]. The official unveiling of the Nexus One superphone by Google in its private press-only conference at its headquarters, has put iPhone’s Jesus phone status in jeopardy. The slim Nexus One touchscreen phone runs latest Google Android 2.1 Operating System and has been developed in combined effort with HTC.

Far above

An exemplar of the emerging category of Smartphones, the Nexus One combines web with a mobile phone in an all new way. This creative intersection is symbolized by the superphone’s speech-to-text translation feature that lets you speak text input to the phone. i.e., you can speak out your e-mails, text messages and other kinds of text data to the Nexus One.

Prominent features and cost

The 11.5mm thick 130g Nexus One featuring 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, comparatively large 3.7-inch AMOLED display with 480 x 800 pixels is made available for purchase on Google’s own online store for $530 unlocked, or through T-Mobile for $180 with 2 year contract. Unlike the iPhone, the Nexus One has a 5MP camera besides 512MB RAM extendable to 32GB, compass, weather app, the more important accelerometer and widgets to show live feeds from different websites.

Contest

In addition, the phone has been stuffed with dual-microphones with a view to enhance voice quality, speech recognition and noise cancellation to an extent. Despite the high-end features and all the event grade technologies, the Google Nexus One has a lot of other web based phone to compete with. While iPhone’s superiority would be the most difficult to surpass, the likes of Motorola Droid and Palm Pre wouldn’t be easy passers too.

It too early to conclude how far the Nexus One will go on to impress us, but one thing is for sure, if iPhone has got competition coming, it has to be in the face of Nexus One.
