We’ve all been hearing about it in the recent years. Space travel for the average Joe. Yes, I said it, you can now go in space for a modest fee of $20 - $40 million. Although that is a hefty price, you can fly into space and see everything you’ve seen in those pictures. Well right now in Russia, the company Energia is currently offering space flights for passengers who are wealthy enough to afford it. Although they do not like the idea of public space travel agency, they are doing it just to make of some money deficit. Vitaly Lopota had this to say about the flight program,

We have built the I.S.S. not for space tourists but for serving the needs of the people of Earth.

Interesting, seems a little hypocritical to me. If you don’t want space tourists, then why are you allowing private people board your flights? Well, he also had an argument to that as well. He had said he was no fan of space tourism and that his nation flew private explorers to make up for financial shortfalls. I see, so you go against what you believe to make money? Why wouldn’t you just receive a grant from your country or some extra cash for your space program? Oh well, whatever the cause, it’s still a pretty awesome experience.

But there is one person that wants to enjoy the beauty of space. That is Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google. He is going to get up into space in the next few years after spending a hefty $20 million to board the space flight. He had this to say about the ride up into space,

I am a big believer in the exploration and commercial development of the space frontier, and am looking forward to the possibility of going into space.

I would definitely take the deal and go up into space if I was old enough. Although that’s a lot of money, it is still a one time experience I wouldn’t ever pass up. The fact that it is safe enough to allow personal flights and the fact that they are allowing is all too much of a lure for me. Pass me the ticket because I’m getting on.
