I thought Google would stop at the Android OS. But because rumors of the chrome OS lingered around, I was never actually content at that. And I think Google too didn’t think Android was enough for which the search engine giant has announced the Google Chrome Operating System. To be launched next year, the Chrome OS will be open source, lightweight and fast. Giving the ruling Windows OS some competition, the released OS will be apt to be used in systems ranging from small notebooks to full-sized desktop PCs.
Sites over the web have marked the Chrome OS as a head-on competitor for Windows OS, but how long will it need to make a difference to about a 90% market share that the latter has for now, is definitely debatable. In order to succeed in the long run, Google will have to partner with big names in the computer systems manufacturing arena and influence them to replace Windows with their OS (besides Apple of course).
