Gluos blood sugar monitor doubles as a fashion accessory
The Gluos is a concept for a non-invasive blood sugar meter with a detachable sensor for more flexibility, which allows a diabetic to monitor his blood sugar level fast, easy and in an unobtrusive manner. The Gluos uses LEDs that change color with a change in the sugar level. Using infrared technology, the user's thumb placed on the Gluos sensor is scanned and the result is measured on the scale between 50mg/dl and 150mg/dl. A low sugar level is indicated by a red LED, normal level by white, while the high sugar level is indicated with an orange color.
The Gluos stores the result and transfers it via Bluetooth to a mobile phone to be able to check the exact result. With software on the mobile phone and/or computer the user is able to manage his diabetes and have full control over the disease. The best thing about the Gluos is that its sensor is detachable, and in case the diabetic cannot place his thumb on the device (in case of playing sports or some disability), the sensor can be detached and can be clipped to the patient's earlobe.
The clipped sensor measures the sugar level constantly, and if the level gets too high or low it warns the user with an alarm sound. The results of the measurements are transferred to your mobile phone or the Gluos base device.
