Gizmo Bot an inexpensive all-rounder among rescue robots
Javier Rodriguez Molina is 24, but thinks much ahead of his age. Designer and a graduate student of electrical engineering at the University of California, San Diego invented something that's more important than creating either dancing robots or emotional ones.

'Gizmo Bot' - especially meant to help in rescue operations like collapsing buildings, hostage conditions and any other such site, which poses threat to human visitors. It can collect and transmit real-time communications in emergency situations by creating wireless network of 650 feet around it. Control it via cell phone, laptop or a gaming joystick hooked to a computer.
It's kind of all-rounder among robots that can run on wheels, but can be fitted with treads or even, eventually, wings. Further, it can be equipped with other accessories like control of cameras, sensors, and arms etc. It's scalable and modular.
The most incredible factor, which makes it mentionable, is the price. Its very rare for a hi-tech robot to cost just $1000. That makes it accessible to others except military and wealthy organizations.
That's not all about it, more modifications are being contemplated at Circuits Lab at Calit2 and soon we can see better of it taking care of rescue sites.
