Getac presents the X500, its most rugged notebook yet!

Going by the looks of it Getac X500 laptop even seems to be ready to face a nuclear attack. While that may not have been the precise purpose of building this laptop but nevertheless it does not takes away anything from the manufacturers, who have combined together the flexibility of their best-selling B300, the I/O expansion features of its A790 and the battlefield command size screen of the M230 to create the most powerful and ultra-rugged notebook in company's history. Needless to say, X500 laptop can easily operate in the most demanding working environments. It has under its hood Intel's powerful Core i7 2.66GHz processor, which offers incredible performance and speed.

Getac has a history of manufacturing and supplying ultra-rugged notebook computers to the military. The Intel Core i7 2.66GHz processor, can be overclocked using Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.33GHz, giving processor-intensive applications extra performance lift. Besides, 4MB of Intel Smart Cache, which can be accessed by each of the processor cores individually, makes sure that the laptop offers maximum performance. For running graphic-intensive applications, Getac's X500 includes NVIDIA's GeForce GT330M MXM GPU with 512MB VRAM. These graphics can be enjoyed on its 15.6-inch, 1000 NITs QuadraClear high definition display. Customization has been weak point for most of the laptops in the market. Here also X500 scores heavily as it provides numerous options for additions and customizations to the system, which includes a multi-touch screen, MIL-SPEC connectors and an expansion unit that can support either two PCI Express cards or two full-sized PCI cards for extreme customization needs. Now, that is quite interesting!

Some other military specific customizations like USB 3.0 ports, Fiber Optic connections, RS-485 or a high-powered WiFi booster can also be added to this beast of machine. The X500's standard configuration includes three USB 2.0 ports, one USB/eSATA combo port, two RS-232 serial ports, two PCMCIA ports, an ExpressCard, a SmartCard, dual RJ-45 ports, HDMI, VGA and a full-sized keyboard with numeric pad. The X500 has rightfully earned MIL-STD-810G certifications for ruggedness and shock protection, and its IP65 rating protects the unit from water and dust. Besides, X500 is also MIL-STD-2169B certified for High Altitude Magnetic Pulse (HEMP), and its UL1604 certification gives enough indications that it can be safely operated in potentially flammable or explosive environments. To round it off, the Getac X500 is NightVision- battle hardened and an EPEAT gold certified laptop, that would easily put its brothers to shame on any given day.
