Unmanned aerial vehicles are of prime importance with the security risks increasing across the globe. Drones like the mini-UAV developed by German-based AirRobot could do wonders with its high-tech surveillance abilities. The fact that it is better than most of its contemporaries is because of its small size and the ability to maneuver itself through a number of complicated situations. The mini-UAV measures 50cms in diameter and weighs less a kilo but still has the capability to lift 200 grams of load. In actuality, it is a mini helicopter with four propellers that ensure it rises and lands vertically.
AirRobot believes that its surveillance ability can substitute for soldiers in complex situations, thereby saving their lives. Forces can be deployed based on the data furnished by the mini-UAV in cases of terrorist attacks or a crime scene. Even firefighters can bring this drone into use as the videos rendered can help them have an idea of the way the fire is spreading inside a particular building and whether there are any victims stranded. (Video after the jump.)
The mini-UAV can be controlled through a remote and even an amateur can do it for there isn’t any complex technology involved. In cases where a soldier’s life is at stake, the mini-UAV can be used as an autonomous robot. This drone depicts the advantages of amalgamating sensors and robots.
