The spectators at Ceatec Japan 2010 were taken aback when Ishikawa Optics&Arts Corp showed off its two cool new projectors. The peculiar displays Space Projector and Crystal-ball Display have the ability to show movies floating in the mid-air and in a transparent spherical object respectively. From movies taken from camera to computer graphics, the two displays can show almost any type of movie.

Space Projector is the display looks like a rear projector without a screen and can show movie in the mid-air. When the light gets projected from the projector, it builds up an image at a certain distance and when viewed from the front it gives the impression of floating in the mid-air. The Space Projector wears the price tag of ¥650,000 that’s approximately US$7,947.

Crystal-ball Display is a display that shows movie inside the transparent spherical object. When the light gets projected from projector to the spherical object, a layer gets formed inside the object and it works as a screen. 100mm and 200mm diameter crystal-balls will cost ¥250,000 and ¥800,000 respectively.
