Wearable computers are steadily making their way into the army, we recently saw HP’s solar-powered wearable PC for soldiers and now with a more rugged twist to it, General Dynamics has released an ultraportable computer for soldiers. Dubbed the Itronix GD300, this shock, dust and extreme temperatures proof fully rugged arm- or chest-worn computer cum GPS unit runs unspecified version of Android and is powered by a 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor. Stuffed in with 256MB of RAM, 8GB of flash memory inside a 800 x 480 3.5-inch glove compatible touchscreen display, the green camouflage computer also makes provision for microSD slot, a SiRF Star III GPS with a high gain antenna, radio equipment connectivity and a micro USB port.
