A clean environment is always a pleasure to work and live in. But how often do you have the time or energy for elaborate cleaning? Electronics, of late, has come to our rescue with a range of products that make daily chores easier. Here's one such gadget that simplifies the mundane but important task of keeping the surroundings clean. An improvisation of the portable, small vacuum cleaner, designed in a form that you can wear on your hand, is 'The Magic Glove'.

You can work with the device using natural hand movements, with no extra strain or effort in the process. However, you have to note that this gadget is not intended for cleaning floors, not unless you want to mimic wiping the floor with a cloth. Counter tops, tables, desks, shelves and basically any object that you clean with your hand.
This wearable cleaner has been designed by Christian Sallustro of the University of Florence in Italy. While explaining the idea behind the design, Sallustro says that he thought for merging the two common functions of brushing as well as vacuuming into a single device which could automatically bring down the time taken and energy spent on the cleaning process. His project is focused on Design Ethics which paves the way for the future of innovative products that interact with end user. He has also considered usability issues faced by left handed persons, the disabled, sick and elderly people while finalizing the design aspects.
The design of this device also comes to the aid of those who have limb problems like a weak grasp or are prone to muscular pain or tiredness after having worked for some time. On the functional side, The Magic Glove is capable of cleaning loose fibres, animal hair, dust and food crumbs commonly found in households, especially from areas that are beyond the reach of the conventional vacuum cleaners. The multi-colored, well-tested glove, made out of strong yet light material, is an example of a flexible, stylish and functional cleaning device that goes easy on the skin.
Extending the usability of this device one step further, don’t you think it can serve as an exercise prop? I can’t help being reminded of a scene in the movie ‘The Karate Kid’, where the young karate student is asked to wax the windshield of a car. “Wax In – Wax Out” the instruction goes, as the student uses each hand in a circular motion (one clockwise and the other anti-clockwise) to polish the glass. So, next time you clean spill on your kitchen counter with the Magic Gloves on both hands, remember this technique.
