By two new acquired patents Apple will enable all new iPhones with wireless activation, which besides reducing the need for SIM cards would help users to activate handsets that are attached to different carriers, while the other would introduce a radio-frequency identifier (RFID) reader key triggering the iPhone to commence data transfers or unlock smart doors, etc.

Patent number 7,929,959 enables users to enjoy the freedom to change carriers in a swift action whenever and wherever they are with or without any SIM cards. It is a cardless technique of activating a cellphone that is assigned to a carrier. Presently carriers use SIM cards to identify and monitor a subscriber to their given network and often impose "locks" on the devices to maintain their exclusivity on the phones. The present patent is however to change all that and allow consumers a larger freedom of choice.
The second patent of number 7,929,959 enables an efficient incorporation of RFID circuitry within touch sensor panel of iPhones. This key, which is believed to come attached with an antenna to the touchscreen display, would allow the phone to read RFID tags that is quite prevalently used in retail and service industries and act like an absolute responder for the moment. Hence, it will allow your cellphone to swipe an item/product’s RFID tag and identify it and then gather all possible information from the store’s internal network, and thereby be it opening doors or revealing detailed information, it is all there at the tilt of the iPhone.
