A software engineering student who calls himself, Xylomn, God knows what that means, sitting somewhere most probably in the Western Hemisphere, aims to make computing a whole lot of fun. And how? He aims to do this with his final year project ‘dissertation’. Yes, you heard it right, this software engineering student has designed and built this very innovative table computer system. The innovation lies in this computer’s ability to interact with people, as it’s user, receives or sends media like songs, pictures, comments or video on the bluetooth network, this table mounted computer displays the sender’s location on a map on the screen. And the screen can also be rotated in any direction, to face the user irrespective of the user’s position. All this is done with the code, Xylomn has himself written for the computer and an attached camera. The camera’s main function is to recognise the pattern in the user’s tasks and along with the code, it helps the computer display the sender’s location. This very cool engineering dissertation is aimed at computer users to get more interactive with each other and doesn’t yet have a practical application yet.
This concept could be used to do some exciting stuff in the near future. For now, the hardware that goes into this dissertation to make it tick include a intel pentium dual core processor, a corsair 2GB ram, Nvidia geforce8400 gs graphic card, an acer 24 inch monitor and a Quickcam Pro 9000 camera. Let us see what the future holds for this dissertion. It looks very exciting though.
