Full body scan X-ray machine locates smallest concealed explosives easily
Billerica-based American Science and Engineering’s X-ray scan systems are used widely by the military at border crossings to combat all kinds of illegal trade and terrorism. Now extending their line of high-end scanners, the company has introduced a smart check system, which uses a low level X-ray to deliver a full body scan. This full body scan X-ray machine can even detect the smallest of things that metal detectors and other scan machines cannot.

For one of machine’s trials, the company used a small packet of explosives, similar to what the Nigerian who tried to blow up a Northwest plane in Detroit on Christmas day had, and it was just astonishing to see the ease with which the full body scanner instantly picked up the concealed packet. This kind of explosive material often goes undetected when scanned under the currently used scanners at the airports, and this is what happened in the Nigerian’s case.
