There are only a few products that seem feasible prospects of hitting the commercial arena the very day they make their first public appearance, but with some confident we can say that Fujitsu’s FLEPia eBook reader wasn’t at all one from the ranks. Putting us off beam however, the manufacturer has got it out of the industrial unit image and has made it available in Japan.
A weak member in the world where eBook readers flaunt a host of features, the FLEPia with an 8-inch display and 1024×768 resolutions, is but the world’s first color eBook reader – that enough to keep them silent and enhance its image. Available with a XGA touchscreen and a digital pen, the FLEPia eBook reader sans backlit can display 10,000 colors.

Accompanied with a 4GB SD card, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the e-reader runs on Windows CE-based OS and would be available for purchase at about 99,750 Yen (just over $1000, i.e.). Demanding excessive battery to keep up with the color claims, the reader lasts only for about 40hrs on a single charge, and has a longer refresh rate at about 1.8 seconds, some weakness that may play heavier on the sales.
