Fujitsu's PalmSecure to recognize unique vein patterns

Posted By: Jaiyant Cavale | Jun 26 2008

Now, this little thing is straight out of Gattaca. Remember Ethan Hawkes and Uma Thurman faking and trying to cheat the id sensors that scanned body parts? Well, now scanning body parts is not limited to the bigwigs at Hollywood anymore. A Japanese company Fujitsu Ltd. hopes to launch a technology that recognizes a person based on his/her unique patterns of veins in the palm. The PalmSecure, a biometric device works on the principle of matching the vein pattern of the person seeking access to ATMs, installations, access to certain areas, etc. Fujitsu plans to sell the technology from next month and you could use it on your PC as well. Skeptics have argued over it’s efficiency and efficacy. Probably one will have to wait till Fujitsu Ltd finally launches the product, to get more information.
