Fujitsu Lifebook E741/C equipped with world’s thinnest contactless palm vein sensor unveiled

The wait for the world’s smallest and thinnest vein authentication device is now over as the Fujitsu Limited unveiled the tiny (29mm each side and 11.2 mm high) on April 19, 2011 in Tokyo. The gadget’s size and functionality will enable better data security management as it will be much easier to install it in laptops, computers and other electronic devices. Fujitsu Lifebook E741/C is the new notebook launched that is fitted with the authentication device. The sensor will be offered as optional add-on. With a price tag of $ 2930, the Lifebook is expected to arrive in the middle of May in Japan.

Functionality

The thin size of the vein authentication sensor is not the only feature of this new development by Fujitsu. Its high speed image capture capability coupled with the ability of automatic verification lends the device cutting edge over the plethora of vein authentication devices floating in the market. The new lighting system developed for components in the sensor enables a uniform illumination. The sensor’s ability to capture the palm’s image at a speed of 20 frames per second provides much relief to the users as now they don’t have to keep their palm motionless while the sensor reads the details. This has increase the level of convenience as well as accuracy.

What to expect:

This biometric palm vein scanning device will be highly hygienic in the sense that it is contact free and like earlier devices one do not need to touch the scanner.
