Disabled people now may have wheelchairs with a spark of revolution. That’s right, Marcus Cunnington, a former technician in the research & development wing at the Williams F1 team has built the world’s lightest wheelchair called the Free Spirit. Putting all his aerospace and F1 expertise to full use, the Free Spirit Wheelchair is made up of one of the world’s stiffest material, Marc has built the Free Spirit from carbon fiber and hence it weighs just 6.3 kilos. To make this wheelchair fit almost anyone who might need it’s services, the Free Spirit can be fully customised. The Free Spirit Wheelchairs come in five different colours to provide some visual relief and feature height adjustable backrests and carbon fiber splash guards. That is a lot of carbon fiber and so, this light wheelchair won’t come too cheap. You have to shell out £2595 to buy the world’s lightest wheelchair. The only down side to this very useful wheelchair is that it will be available only in Britain for the time being. Meanwhile, plans are afoot to launch the Free Spirit in other markets at the earliest.
