Flying 800 miles on a trike, ambitious high for a cause
The Flyke isn’t new, so don’t mistake us for posting old. It’s John Carver and his sky-high ambition that’s brought it to life again. The 37-year-old IT teacher from Oxford plans to take the Flyke for an 800-mile trek stretching from Land's End to John O'Groats. The money raised (about £10,000 hopped) in the adventure, which asks a trike, powered by two-stroke engine and a paraglider, to live out the record flight, will be used for Juvenile Diabetes Research.

The single-seater Flyke is registered under the Civil Aviation Authority, it sounds scary because its engine has to be turned off to glide it to land, but yeah, the parachute canopy will be always be open when flying. Carver will speed off at 20mph sometime in August, and he says the flight could take 3-4 weeks. Good luck, Carver, we’ll follow.
