FluGen develops easy, painless vaccination device
Like many others, Mother’s kiss was one introduction with a purpose to avoid those painful needle pricks. And to the advantage of all who still cringe at the thought of using syringes for vaccination comes a more secure, patent protected replacement. Delivered by FluGen, this poker chip sized device delivers vaccine in a very unorthodox manner, i.e. just under the epidermis, in contrary to the conventional needles that have to be pricked down into the muscles.
The invention seems to be a great initiative for infants and weak-hearted, who have the biggest phobia against syringes. And also as Charlie White rightly suggests, this could be a quick and pain-free way to impart vaccinations against epidemics and flu – in the very current scenario for vaccination against the recent outbreak of Swine Flu, but that’ll be reality once the device is actually ready.
