Fleet of 24 cars makes a musical instrument to play Gary Numan’s hit “Cars”
If you’re an auto enthusiast, and have that little passion for music, then you must be familiar with Gary Numan’s 1979 hit “Cars.” You’ve heard that many a times all right, but you wouldn’t have heard it with the cars creating music themselves. To give us a treat of this, Numan has combined with DieHard battery to show the strength of the latter’s battery in a video commercial created by Syyn Labs with Zoo films. 24 battery-less cars were lined up in a desert with each car interconnected with another and the entire fleet then connected to a central computer and a keyboard. The horns inside the cars were removed too and were instead replaced with an MP3 player connected to the car’s speaker, while the entire set-up was connected to one DieHard battery.

“As Numan hit each key on his keyboard, the software turned on the lights and sound for the corresponding car. It activated the speaker in that car so the MP3 player would blare out the right note for just a few seconds.” See the video below and enjoy.
