Posted By: Vikas Shekhawat | Jan 6 2006

The first media PC powered by Intel's Viiv dawned today. The Viiv-enabled VAIO VGX-XL100 media PC introduced by Sony runs Windows XP Media Center Edition in HDTV. Embellishing the VAIO VGX-XL100 with Viiv, Sony perks up the old VAIO VGX-XL1 to rapid resume and standby operations, DSD audio and HD video support, simplified media networking, on-the-fly content transcoding and more.

Intel Pentium D 920 sits inside the XL100 running at 2.8 GHz simultaneously with a maximum of 2 GB RAM. Enjoy the graphics with Nvidia GeForce 6600 and 128 MB of dedicated video memory in addition to a 250 GB HDD.

It's also loaded with a Super Multi Dual Layer DVD optical drive, Wi-Fi 802.11g connectivity, a wireless keyboard and remote and Sony's VAIO Information Flow, podcasting, picture slideshows and a music player. You can access the best quality video output as the VGX-XL100 is embedded with a HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) port for video output, the first to do so.

The Sony VAIO VGX-XL100 will be available in February and will cost around €1,450.
