The pictured above is the first prototype key from the Lebedev’s Optimus Maximus keyboard. The focal idea behind the Optimus Maximus key design is that the part with the display is unchanging while the see-through cap around the OLED display is moving thereby pressing a mechanical cherry switch underneath. This will protect the minuscule OLED displays while effectively delivering a tangible feedback. The first prototype is yet to reach Moscow and the reports are saying that ‘key-press is nice.” Hmm...the gap between the cap and the OLED might be a downside as they keys that are to be employed as info widgets should be clrealy visible from all angles. After all, you are paying $1,490 for the keyboard.
