Tablets are here to stay come what may. It’s amazing how they have seized the markets with their uniqueness and functionality. Adding to the list of these ever increasing tablets is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 - a much more progressed and refined Galaxy Tab, unwrapped in Barcelona at the MWC 2011. One can expect much better software and hardware packed into this tablet. With a 10.1-inch XVGA capacitive touch screen and multi-touch input support, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, is expected to deliver much better than Galaxy Tab. An iPad killer, it will come with Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS for added power as against Android version 2.2 in Galaxy Tab.

What’s good?
The overall look of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is quite chic with an equally modish aluminum logo. Strengthened by Google’s new Honeycomb version of Android is the all new Galaxy Tab 10.1 that feels quite light in hand. Made out of black textured plastic is the rear whereas feeling more like plastic are the sides appearing like aluminum. With a download speed of 21 Mbps it braces up wireless broadband via HSPA. A SIM cad slot is subtly placed on the right side. The 8 megapixel camera component has been placed with utmost grace. The serial number plate and Google logo seem to misfit in terms of placement. With an option of 16 or 32GB as storage space, a 1GHz Dual-Core Tegra 2 CPU resting at the back of a large screen.
What’s not so good?
They say good and bad come packed together. So how can the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 stay hidden from it? Mounting apps and surfing the net becomes a task with a sluggish local Wi-Fi. Absence of Touch Wiz an integral part of the 7-inch Tab and all of the Galaxy S phones is a bit baffling. Overall a smooth sail but nothing surprising in terms of performance level.
Price and availability:
Vodafone being the first carrier of this Tab it’s projected to be launched in March in both Asia and Europe. But cost and arrival in USA is still under wraps.
Wrap-up:
Powered by an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor and marvelous features, it will surely manage to steal hearts. But the real question is will iPad loyalists consider it keeping in mind how enchanting the whole apple experience is. Giving extra power to this Tab is the Android 3.0 HoneyComb OS which sure can’t be ignored. The war is on and survival of the fittest being the mantra all we have to see is who gets decorated with a crown over their head.
