Finally, you can grab your White iPhone 4 later this year

After a long wait of 10 months, the Apple White iPhone 4 will finally be released later this year or so it seems. This was declared by Apple authorities to Wall Street Journal on Thursday. Many are still skeptical about the launch since it has already been delayed twice in the past. Apple have set a tentative date of October for the release of the white iPhone 4.

But it is still not clear as to which carrier would initially carry the white iPhone 4. News reports have been published stating both AT&T and Verizon Wireless would get the white version.

The white version of iPhone 4 debuted in June last year when it was showcased to the public by company Chief Executive Steve Jobs. Since then, the development of the device has been plagued with technical problems. The nature of the problems are not known since Apple has kept a complete mum on this issue. But analysts believe that the problem is with the color of the device since the white paint of the device leaks light from the edges of its glass cases.

But if one takes a look at the history of iPhone 4, then color is not the only issue plaguing the device. Right after the device was launched, the company witnessed frequent customer complaints regarding the reception of the device due to its unusual design where the antennae was placed on the outer casing. The complaints were so frequent and numerous that it forced Jobs to hand out free cases to disgruntled customers at a press conference.

Pundits are even questioning the very idea behind the release of white colored iPhone 4 at this point of time when the iPhone 4 itself is nearing the end of its product cycle.

But whatever the case may be, the popularity of iPhone 4 with customers cannot be questioned. Just last holiday quarter, iPhone sold nearly 16.2 million iPhones worldwide, which was almost 86% higher than the numbers it sold the year prior to it. There is also no doubt that the launch of the white iPhone 4 will only add to the growing list of iPhone fans.

Already speculations are being made that the launch of the next generation iPhone 5 will get delayed due to the white iPhone launch and complete silence from Apple on all these issues has only added to the mystery.
