Final Cut Pro X to be launched in June

Good news for all you guys who have been waiting for the latest video-editing software. Well, the wait is over because Apple has announced the new version of their video-editing software, the Final Cut Pro, which has changed all the dimensions of video editing in the world. Apple presents Final Cut Pro X which promises the complete rewrite of the 12-year-old platform.

Final Cut Pro X or FCP X is a 64-bit application which sports new interface to boost up the editing process with features like background rendering, multi-core processors, and Apple's Grand Central Dispatch system. FCP X also has the option to make edits as footage which is being imported.

Apple has carried over certain iMovie features, which the company has added to its latest version, including a tool that detects when are people in shots, as well as what type of shots they are (close-up, medium, or wide angle).

And that’s not the only iMovie legacy in the software. There is a tool called “skimming” that is used to preview the content of a clip by just moving the mouse across it.

There are features to manage clips with tags to help editors search for media in the library. The software can mix clips into buckets that contain everything from that specific part of the timeline, helping editors put together a specific sequence and move it around the timeline. Adding to this, Apple has introduced a new way to link up the audio and video tracks to avoid them from getting out of sync by accident.

“Auditioning” is another tool to create alternative audio and visual combinations on the timeline and editors can pick which one they like later. This gives an option to the editors to test out various edits without having to re-do the original work.

The software has absorbed Color and Soundtrack, the tools specifically designed to help video editors make colour and audio adjustments. FCP X claims to have resolution-independent playback, which implies that videos of any sizes can be brought to the same size screen. This feature could prove especially important as it makes the software more compatible with footage from latest digital cameras.

The software marks the return of Apple. The company says the software will be available to the general public in June and users can directly download it for $299, replacing the $199 Final Cut Express, and the company has also given a steep discount as compared with its $999 Final Cut Studio suite. The move to make it a direct download is not a new one. Apple had made its Aperture photo-editing software available on its Mac App Store at a steep discount previously. The company says it gives Apple a higher level of control over distribution by tracking downloads and linking that purchase information up to Apple ID accounts.
