Fermilab readying 570MP camera, not for everyday photographers, of course

A slight glimpse on 570 megapixels should have surely given you bright eyes. That’s to be, but not for your everyday portfolio shoots or those paparazzi leaks. Fermilab is creating the $35 million, 570-megapixel digital camera for all those desired cosmic penetrations and Universal revelations. Built to a size of a small car, the camera will be stuffed with 74 CCD sensors. Once complete, the rig would be installed onto a telescope in Chile, from where it’ll help "track 300 million galaxies over the course of five years," defining more vividly the existence and effect of dark energy with ultra-detailed shots of the Universe.
