F-35B, first supersonic stealth jump-jet being tested for its STOVL abilities
The next big thing in supersonic fighter jets is the F-35B Lightning II. Built with the best capabilities of the jump-jets, the stealth technology and the Short Takeoff and Vertical Landing (STOVL), the F-35B has been flying for almost a year but its STOVL abilities have been put to test for the first time. Being the first supersonic jump-jet, the F-35B just like the other supersonic aircrafts of the same family has been criticized of not being good enough to tackle the Chinese and/or the Russian future planes. But the Royal Navy wants to use the F-35B as a carrier fighter, specifically to protect the British fleet from air attacks at sea, so if the STOVL capabilities are justified we could see the supersonic jump-jet doing the stuff required of the aircraft.
