Eyeglass-mountable retina scanning display from Brother Industries

With Bluetooth headsets gaining popularity, the potential for developing eyeglass-mountable displays that can actually be used in daily life has become a viable reality. Taking a sizable initiative in the field, Brother Industries have began the slow and steady process to get their own version of the sci-fi display down to a wearable size. And their latest creation is this retina-scanning system which effectively uses your retina as a screen to make you see images as if they were floating space in front of you as opposed to a rather simplistic LCD mounted in front of your eyes. Currently, the earpiece that adds sound to the free-floating image needs to be wired to your ear, but the company is optimistic that they are working on switching to a sleeker wireless system which shall make this whole project a living breathing reality as soon as 2010.
