Extremely Large Telescopes to explore new dimensions of the Universe

The never ending quest of human beings for new inventions and discoveries has guided them to develop some exceedingly enhanced devices and gadgets to support not only their earthly pursuits but heavenly as well. Man has explored almost everything in this globe and now he is detecting the galaxies and other planets around the globe, looking for different possibilities of the Universe.

The ESO Council, representing 11 European countries (Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom), has announced a 57 million euros budget for the future generations of Extremely Large Telescopes (ELTs) that will help to explore the new dimensions of the galaxy and solar system with its fine blend of unique sharpness and light gathering power for exclusive images of every bits and pieces at different levels.

The Extremely Large Telescopes with its adaptive optics concept, along with the primary mirror of 42 m diameter finished with 906 hexagonal segments (of 1.45 m each) and a secondary mirror with the diameter of 6 m would be more hundred times sensitive and elevated, if compared to the contemporary optical telescopes.

Manufacturing of the Extremely Large Telescope is expected to commence within the three years. This certainly is a massive project that will gather the latest and vivid pictures or information of different unexplored stars, planets, Black Holes, etc. to help the astronauts in their research work and space missions.
