In a joint venture, following their previous successful development of two-layer optical disc, Toshiba and Memory-Tech have developed a Triple -layer visual disc that is readable by DVDs and HD DVDs as well; enabling movie companies to enclose together a standard definition and high-explanation version of the similar film on a solitary compact disk and preventing costumers from repurchasing the same movie when bouncing from DVD to HD DVD.
Capable of storing about four hours of SD and HD content the disc could be accessible commercially by early 2007.
