An Australian company Simavita, considering the gravity of incontinence amid elders and infirm, has developed what it boasts as the world’s first electronic underpants, which would send text messages out to caretakers when a person becomes incontinent. Dubbed as the SIMsystem, the disposable device features detachable transmitter that transmits information (of moisture) from the pad's sensor strip to a wireless network to a central computer that’s with the nurses and others caring for the aged. The underpants that relay this information as text message to the system are undergoing clinical trials in Australia and could soon find way into hospitals and homes as a successful incontinence monitor.
