Electron-Beam Melting to revolutionize the role of metals in our lives
The ARCAM EBM S400 is a system introduced by Arcam that produces 100 per cent solid metal using CAD-to-Metal process based on Electron-Beam Melting (EBM). The system uses titanium powder as a metal base and carves out robust solids by melting the metal via electron beam and eliminating any room of space between the particles even by oxidation.
The EBM process will benefit medical science providing highly tough products that can be used in bone implants and which have a life span of more than 10 million cycles (or movements). Even automobile and aerospace industry can build strong parts for high temperature testing.
